THE SOUNDS OF STORYTELLING

This is a collection that stemmed from my love for dance and the classical dances I grew up being trained in. The dance involves detailed storytelling through various hand gestures and movements. The embroidery on all my garments brings together the visual of the details and what they depict in the story. An important element in these dances is the bells called ghungroos which are worn around your ankles to generate sounds while the dancer moves and have been an asset to include in my collection. The colours for the costumes are deep jewel tones and are pulled together through symmetrical and asymmetrical pleating. my collection is aimed at honouring the art as well as my passion for dance.
